Index is a guide to the North East Music Community.
Our mission is to be a reliable, faff-free online platform providing the North East music community with contacts, resources, and opportunities. We’re putting it all in one place to save you time and make working together a whole lot easier!
We are launching a North East Music Directory listing music services and individuals from the region in the coming months.
We are currently also developing our Opportunities Board, featuring open opportunities from job listings to funding pots, and Resource Hub, featuring accessible tools for skills and knowledge sharing. Got an idea for a feature that might help you? Pop it in our suggestion box here
Index is Helen, Pippa & Sarah – 3 lasses with over 20 years of collective industry experience across the region, we understand where the cracks are and we’re passionate about finding solutions!
We work alongside our 4th unofficial member and good pal David Haigh at Beatnik Studio who has worked behind the scenes to bring Index to life.
Index is for anyone involved in the music community in the North East, whether you’re an established professional, just starting out, or do music for fun!
To add a listing to our directory please find our submissions form here.
Your listing will be reviewed and approved by the team. Directory listings will only be visible to logged-in, Index subscribed members
There is no fee to be listed in the directory. However, once we launch, accessing Index’s full range of features—such as browsing the directory, discovering opportunities, and using our resource hub—will be available through a tiered subscription model. Membership fees will go directly toward maintaining and developing the platform for the community. We will also offer options for individuals facing financial difficulties.
Right now, we’re gathering submissions for the directory. When we launch the directory, we’ll notify everyone via our mailing list along with details on how to access and search the directory!
If you would like to update or remove your listing, please email us at hello@indexmusic.co.uk
Currently, we only provide information without reviews or opinions. In the future, if there’s demand, we may introduce an endorsements section for listings, but it won’t be a traditional ratings system.
Depends on the event!
We’ll not be promoting gigs or live events; we will however signpost to other people who already do this.
We will be collating professional and creative development opportunities; for example workshops, development programmes and conferences through our Opportunities Board.
The directory is updated all the time, as people can add new listings whenever they like. We also reach out to everyone with a listing twice a year to remind them to update their information or add anything new. This helps keep everything as relevant as possible!

We don’t have advertising spots available yet, but they’re coming soon! If you’re interested in advertising with us, please contact us at hello@indexmusic.co.uk.
If you’d like to be considered for a feature in our newsletter, please email us. We only include content that offers opportunities or resources for the North East music community, rather than commercial advertising like self-promotion or gig listings.
